Starting May 3, 2021, Twin Transit will roll out an entirely new route system, which will provide more comprehensive service and better access to riders. These routes were developed using extensive ridership data and are designed to provide better, more comprehensive service where it is needed most. To improve timeliness and consistency, flag stops will be discontinued, and new fixed route stops will be added. The new routes will connect with all major medical facilities and area schools. Each route will be color coded for easy identification and quick reference.
The new route colors were selected to match local school colors. For example, the West Centralia route is orange for Centralia High School. East Centralia is blue for Centralia College and Chehalis is maroon for W.F. West High School. These colors show Twin Transit’s support of education and pride in our area’s schools!
Here are a few additional highlights:
New Olympia Connection
Starting May 3, Twin Transit will offer weekday service from Centralia to Tumwater, Washington, where passengers can connect with Intercity Transit. This means that Lewis County residents will soon be able to ride public transit to Tumwater, Olympia, Lacey, Aberdeen and beyond!

Extended Hours
Twin Transit’s new routes will also come with new, expanded hours. Fixed route service will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on weekdays and 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on weekends.
Mellen Street e-Transit Station
Twin Transit bus routes will all connect at the new Mellen Street e-Transit Station. This recently renovated hub will provide ample parking, vanpool and carpool access, electric car charging, and bicycle and pedestrian access. It will also be equipped with wave induction charging to power Twin Transit’s new electric buses, which are scheduled to arrive in May.
Intercity Express Route
An improved version of the Intercity Express will return to Twin Transit service on May 3. This route will provide expedited transportation between Centralia and Chehalis, connecting the area’s most visited places.
Expanded DARTT Service
Twin Transit recently expanded the service area of our Dial-a-Ride transportation service, DARTT to include the cities of Centralia, Chehalis, Napavine, Morton, Pe Ell, Mossyrock, Toledo, Tumwater, Grand Mound, and Olympia. Now passengers can combine DARTT rides with fixed route service to get where they need to go as quickly – and affordably – as possible.
